More thunderous appaluse from the audience ensues LAWRENCE: Thnak you, thank you ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our first annual Champagne Dance Contest and Marathon. For the next twenty four hours, we will be on the air bringing you the finest in competitive dancing featuring our Musical Family, members of our wunnerful studio audience and our special guests as they dance to raise money for a wunnerul cause, the American Cancer Institute. | MYRON: Thanks Lawrence, as you know The American Cancer Institute is one of my favorite personal causes; their staff and volunteers are working hard to find a cure for cancer and I have always glad to help out for their cause. | BOB: Thanks Myron! Before I introduce our dance couples, let me remind you that since this is a dance contest; the last couple left standing after twenty four hours will win this lovely trophy (shows the trophy to the audience) plus a terrific seven day, six night vacation in lovely Acapulco, Mexico at our Welk Resort Mexico! (the audience goes crazy with applause and more cheers) BOB: And now here's the contestants....Couple Number One here is our dancinbg star Bobby Burgess with Mrs. Gertrude Snerd of Redando Beach, California, our second couple here is the lovely Gail Farrell with Grover from the hit television show Sesame Street; couple number three is Ken Delo with Prarie Dawn also from Sesame Street, our fourth couple has Cissy King, who usually dances with Bobby on the show, but tonight is dancing with Mr. Bob Johnson from Snellville, Georgia. (Then we have more applause, and heavy cheering as well) BOB: Sounds like Mr. Johnson brought his fan club (laughs), anyway here's our fifth couple; my fellow Italiano Tanya Welk with Kermit the Frog from Sesame Street, couple number six has my partner-in-crime from the Hotsy Totsy Boys, the cute and lovely Mary Lou Metzger dancing with the also cute and lovely (laughs) Oscar The Grouch from Sesame Street.... OSCAR (yelling): VERY FUNNY! BOB: Moving right along, we have for couple number seven our own tap dancer Arthur Duncan dancing with Mrs. Alice Cromarte of Santa Barbara, couple number eight has our Texas gal Ralna English with Cookie Monster from Sesame Street; our ninth couple has our Champagne Lady Norma Zimmer with Big Bird also from Sesame Street, couple number ten has Sandi Griffiths with Ernie from Sesame Street and couple number eleven has Sally Flynn dancing with Bert, who also is from Sesame Street. |
