FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES
IN EASTLAKE
PART TWO: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
About fifteen minutes before the Welk stars came on, we had an opening act which was singer Nick Costa. He was very good, singing old favorites such as "My Way" and "Dixie" with such pathos. Plus, he also did brilliant impressions of Elvis and Dean Martin which thrilled the audience.
Also, just to clear things up, in case some of you guys wondered, he's not related to Chris Costa, Sheila Aldridge's husband and singing partner.
Five minutes later, after his closing number, came the headliners....the Musical Family live and in living color opening the festivities with "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" and "Swunnerful", always the perfect way to begin the show.
THE OPENING ACT: NICK COSTA
HERE'S THE STARS! (left to right): Skip, Greg, Elaine, Bobby, Sally, Clay, Sheila, Michael and Bob
The Bubbles Blenders were the first act, where Bob, Greg, Skip and Micheal sang to great tunes such as "Sha Boom" and "Little Darlin", where in the latter, Bob Duncan left everyone in stitches with his high falsetto voice to the amazement of his fellow Blenders! Our favorite couple, Clay & Sally, were next for their portion of the show starting with "United We Stand"; then Sally came out into the audience with two great numbers, first with "Things" and "A Your Adorable" where she picked two fellers out from the crowd to sing with her. I can tell that each one of them had lots of fun...especially when it came to Sally giving them hugs and kisses for a job well done! Kinda wish that was me...
